Six Weeks to Halloween!!

Well guys, we are officially coming up to my favourite time of year. I absolutely love autumn. There are 6 weeks to Halloween and then once Halloween is over it will be Christmas in my house. They are my 2 favourite holidays so I'm very very excited.

Since we are now in the run up to Halloween I thought that this would be a good opportunity to show you all some of my cosplays from the past few years since you already saw the one from this year, plus I'll tell you all about my Halloween plans.

So, first, the cosplay photos. Enjoy.

Right, well now that you've seen those, it's on to the Halloween section of this post. I have 3 things to tell you all, and one request.

Firstly I thought I'd let you all know that my Halloween costume this year is going to be a ghost bride. I plan to wear a wedding dress and veil, paint myself white, with a really long white wig, white make up with dramatic eyes, white contact lenses, and a black bouquet. Hopefully it will look awesome for the party that I'm going to. If anyone has any tips on contouring on white face paint in order to make it look more dramatic then that would be awesome.

The second thing to tell you which leads in to the request is that throughout October I plan to watch one horror film everyday and then review them all on my blog for you guys. Not necessarily every day, some might be 3 days of films in one blog post depending on how much time I have. The request is that I would love it if you guys could comment with film suggestions for me to watch, and I will compile a list.

And finally, on the 30th September I will be doing a blog to list all of the films I will be watching, but also on that day I will be starting a giveaway running until the week before Halloween, to win a little bundle of themed goodies. So keep an eye on the blog to see what the prize will be and to enter.

And now for one last photo, this was the first costume I ever put together myself, it was about 10 years ago, but I was really proud of it at the time.

Movie Comparison: Kingsman v Infinity War

So guys, this is the first post in a section that will be titled Miscellaneous Ramblings. Basically my random thoughts on books and movies, or in this case comparing similarities and differences in 2 films that at first glance are very different but have similar ideologies behind the villains.

So before I start I should mention that there are going to be spoilers ahead. I usually try to keep my posts as spoiler free as possible, but since I will be talking about the villains in both of the films, if you haven't seen them then I would probably just leave now.

Right, now that's out of the way, on to the main thought behind this post. Obviously Kingsman is a funny and charming spy movie, and Infinity War is a comic book movie so you wouldn't think that there would be parallels between the 2 if you hadn't seen the films. However, watching Kingsman actually makes me think that Thanos is not necessarily as evil as I first thought.

Don't get me wrong, I still hate Thanos because he killed all of my favourites, seriously I saw the film 3 times and cried my eyes out every time Spidey bit the dust (pun intended). But if we compare Thanos to Richmond Valentine who is the villain in Kingsman, then he doesn't seem quite as bad, or at least his intentions seem more pure.

Both of them have the same basic idea, wipe out half of the population in order to improve the quality of life of the ones that remain. I can kind of see the thinking behind it even if I completely disagree with them. However where they differ is the way they go about achieving their goal.

Thanos of course does some awful things to get the infinity stones, and Loki might even be more heartbreaking than Spidey (seriously that film had me shouting at the screen by the end), but when he did get them he snapped his fingers and half of the planet ceased to exist. He had no say in who went, it was completely unbiased.

Valentine on the other hand was incredibly elitist and saved those that he determined as worthy of saving and left the rest to rip each other apart. He saved the wealthy and influential, he was completely biased. The rest of the world didn't just cease to exist, had he succeeded their end would have been full of pain and bloodshed, because he designed it that way.

That right there is why I think Thanos had the more pure motives, what he did was wrong, but I think in a warped way he genuinely thought he was helping. Valentine pretty much had a God complex (not saying Thanos didn't), even comparing what he was doing to God sending the flood and saving Noah.

So, by now you've probably figured out why this section is labelled ramblings. But the basic conclusion here is Thanos is a d*ck, but Valetine was worse. If you agree, or if you disagree then feel free to comment and tell me why.

Blog Tour: Class of 2008 - Review

After surviving the near death experience at the hands of her husband, "cold eyes", Rosario and her feline friend Balou are trying to get some semblance of normality back into their lives. A new home, new surroundings, old friends, and plenty of rest is just what the doctor ordered, had he been consulted. Balou's law of minimum effort means days spent licking his paws in the sun, but Balou's practice is soon shaken to it's very foundation. When a dear friend's innocent class reunion goes horribly wrong, their peace is shattered. In a race against time, the amateur sleuths navigate the muddy waters of old secrets and friendships to try to save the day, but the clock is ticking and it might very well be too late...
As always this will be a spoiler free review so I won't be going in to the actual plot of the story because I don't want to ruin it for anyone who decides to read it.

The book is actually the second in a series of books, and although it can be read as a stand alone novel, there were some references to the events in the first book so it did make me curious to read book one.

It was a very unique read since it is definitely the fist book that I've read where half the chapters are from the perspective of a cat. I'm not much of an animal person so I don't know how accurate a cat lover would find the narrative in those chapters, but it was a new and interesting experience for me.

I'm not sure whether I will read book 1, however for anyone who already has this book is a must read, and a welcome look at how life has progressed for the characters since the events that happened in it.
Author Bio: I live in sunny Spain and have been writing for about six years now. I started with a collection of cat stories to raise funds for a shelter and then moved on to my first suspense novel. I write in both Spanish and English and have series in both languages. Though I am a biologist, writing is my true passion. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do what I love.

London Film and Comic Con!

What and amazing day! Seriously, I had such a good day, even though I was dying from the heat in my cosplay, and my feet were killing me, and I had a 22 hour day after only 2 hours sleep, I still loved every minute of it.

We drive down on the morning of the day that we go, and I didn't want my make up to melt off before we even got there, so I waited till we got to the services for breakfast to put my Vanellope face on, which may have made people at Macdonalds think I was crazy. Especially since I didn't get dressed till I got there meaning I just looked like I was drawing on crazy black eyebrows.

We got down there at about 8 meaning we were in the queue for just short of an hour after we got through the bag check and in that time I gave Ralph (my mate Andy) a little surprise, I had made him the cookie medal that Vanellope gives Ralph in the film. Although I do think he was a tiny bit disappointed that I used air drying clay and not an actual cookie.
So I suppose without further ado, I should show you guys my finished costume, you've been with me for the whole time I made it, so it only seems fair. Here is my costume, and me with Ralph. Then of course me with the guys I go with (and Steve the chest burster)
My friend Tristan was by far the most popular cosplay of the day (he always is), he was Peter from Deadpool 2, and he was such a crowd pleaser, he could barely walk 10 feet without being stopped for a selfie. Although he said that if he took the goggles off no one asked, so I can suddenly see how Clark Kent disguised himself just in glasses.
For once we actually had quite a stress free day at London, usually at this comic con we all have crazy schedules because of all of the guests. But this year I only had a 1 photo and 1 autograph to get both with the same person, which was Jewel Staite, who was lovely by the way. The guys didn't have too much to do either so it was a fairly steady day for us which was nice because it meant we could actually just relax and have a laugh together.

As always I got chatting with people in queues which is always fun since at comic con you can pretty much always find someone you have something in common with, especially if you are queuing to meet the same people. I met a cool guy in one queue who has a podcast that I now follow, which is great.

I think the best addition this year is that they kept a huge space clear in the centre of the main hall for people to sit down and rest, which considering the heat was much needed, I found myself there a few times taking a break. In the hoody I was extremely warm which is always a risk as at a comic con, I don't know how people do it in the full body and face costumes.

Jewel Staite was absolutely lovely when I met her, for both autograph and photo shoot. She was chatting with everyone at her table, shaking hands and being sweet, and was equally welcoming at her photoshoot. She was probably absolutely exhausted by that time in the afternoon, but you would never know that she was anything other than 100% pleased to meet every single person.
Other than meeting her, the other highlight of the day for me was attending the talk by Zachary Levi. If I could have afforded to get a photo with him then I would have, fortunately his talk was free to attend, and I'm so glad I did. He was funny, nerdy, and seemed genuinely excited to be there. Not only that but he genuinely seems like a good human being, so sweet and enthusiastic about everything, it was just a joy to watch him (he even seems to have melted my cold cynical heart).

By the end of the day we were absolutely exhausted, but we got a final lift when we were headed out of the venue and were shouted to stop by someone who wanted a photo of me and Ralph, which was a perfect end to the day.
